Last week I attended Digital Construction Week 2016 in London (#DCW2016). This event explores some of the impacts of digitisation and innovation in the construction industry. Many of the COMIT members were either sponsors or presenters at the event which was certainly better attended than the first year.
Plenty of familiar faces had stands, such as new COMIT member Future Aerial Innovations. Coins Fulcro brought along their new immersive VR cave and Bentley Systems were one of the platinum partners. @WomeninBIM were also in attendance. This is a new group that aims to help address the gender imbalance in construction and specifically within the BIM sector - something that COMIT is keen to support.
I was also asked to assist our good friends and partners Crossrail’s Innovate18 program with a short presentation about the Automated Drone Reality project - which generated plenty of feedback and questions after the session. This is a new COMIT project looking to use automated drone technology and photogrammetry to improve progress tracking, as-build models and safety in construction.
