London Tech Week is a mega-festival of technology on a global scale anchored by the TechXLR event - which in itself brings together six leading technology events over two and half days encompassing some of the sharpest minds in the tech industry.
Hosted at the ExCel in London this colossus venue entertained seven THOUSAND delegates over 13-15 June 2017. At the heart of the show were our very own Steve Slater (Chair for Construction) and myself, Tony Shooter (Chair for Technology). We were representing COMIT and its members at the personal invitation of David Wood, Chair of London Futurists and a previous speaker at COMIT events.
Our well received presentation focused on the challenges the construction industry faces in deploying technology to site, due to the lack of connectivity in the United Kingdom. The robust question and answer session reinforced the message that new network technologies such as 5G should not only address speed issues but - more importantly - improve coverage.
Only in this way can we can we deliver desperately needed efficiency gains – through technology - in the construction sector. The COMIT community continues to drive forward the agenda and there is no better place to be if you are an innovator.
